ADMISSION CRITERIA FOR GNM
- Minimum age for admission will be 17 years. (as on 31st December of that year )
The upper age limit is 35 yrs. For ANM/ for LHV, there is no age bar.
- Minimum education ; 10+2 class passed or its equivalent preferably with Science
(Physics, Chemistry and Biology) subjects with aggregate of 45% marks.
- Those who have cleared 10+2 vocational ANM course (revised after 2001) from the
school recognized by Indian Nursing Council.
- ANM training i.e 10+1½ years training should also have passed +2 or its equivalent
examination.
- Admission of students shall be once in a year.
- Students shall be medically fit.
- In addition to the above, admission procedure can be laid down by concerned State
Nursing Council/Nursing Examination Boards (S.I.B.E, M.I.B.E, C.M.A.I)
ADMISSION CRITERIA FOR B.Sc (N)
- Candidates belonging to all categories for admission to the B.Sc., Degree course
in Nursing (Basic) should have passed the qualifying examinations (Academic Stream)
after period of 12 years of study with the following subjects of Physics, Chemistry
and Biology or Botany and Zoology.
- Every candidate before admission to the course shall submit to the Principal of
the institution a certificate of medical fitness from an authorized medical officer
that the candidate is physically fit to undergo the academic course.
- The minimum educational requirements shallbe passing of Higher Secondary School
Certificate Examination (12 years course)
(Or)
Senior School Certificate Examination (10+2), pre –degree Examinations (10+2)
(Or)
An equivalent with 12 years schooling from a recognized Board or University with
Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) and English with minimum 40% aggregate marks
(PCBE); for SC/ST candidates – the minimum percentage of marks is 35%.
ADMISSION CRITERIA FOR P.B.B.Sc(N)
- Candidates belonging to all categories for admission to the course of Post Basic
B.Sc Nursing
- Should have qualified in Diploma in Nursing and be a registered Nurse and Midwife
in the TamilNadu Nursing Council or any other State Nursing Council also register
in the Tamil Nadu Nursing Council accepted by the authority of the University to issue eligible certificate to join in post basic B.Sc Nursing
- After GNM with the Registration Certoificate from the State Nursing Council, the
candidate can be permitted to join in Post Basic B.Sc Nursing without experience.
- If the registration certificate cannot be obtained immediately, the original evidence
for registration in the form of receipt or any other authenticated document from
the office of the State Nursing Council will be acceptable in lie of the Registration
Certificate.
- A male nurse, trained before the implementation of the new integrated course besides
being registered as a nurse with State Nurses Registration Council, shall produce
evidence of training approved by Indian Nursing Council for a similar duration in
lie of in any one of the following areas.
- O.T.Techniques
- Ophthalmic Nursing
- Leprosy Nursing
- TB Nursing
- Psychiatric Nursing
- Neurological and Neuro Surgical Nursing
- Community Health Nursing
- Cancer Nursing
- Orthopedic Nursing
- Cccupational Nursing
To be eligible for admission to this course, a candidate shall have:
- Passed the Higher Secondary or Senior Secondary or Intermediate or 10+2 or an equivalent
examination recognized by the University for this purpose. Those who have done 10
+1 in or before 986, will be eligible for admission.
- Obtained a certificate in General Nursing and Midwifery and registered as R.N.R.M.
with the State Nurses Registration Council.
- Every candidate before admission to the course shall submit to the Principal of
the institution a certificate of medical Fitness from an authorized medical officer
that the candidate is physically fit to undergo thr academic course.
